The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (10:09): I move:

That this House:

(a)commends Associate Professor Sanjay Warrier for his leadership in breast oncology and oncoplastic surgery at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Mater Hospital and Breast Screen NSW, serving as consultant breast surgeon and chief surgeon for Sydney Local Health District Breast Screen Aged Care;

(b)recognises his academic contributions as associate professor at the University of Sydney and lead researcher at the Royal Prince Alfred Academic Institute, where he co-founded the world's first Master of Advanced Surgery (Breast Surgery)—a postgraduate degree addressing specialised training needs;

(c)acknowledges his leadership roles as a past president of BreastSurgANZ, current chairman (co-chair) of Post Fellowship Training, longstanding member of BreastSurgANZ committees, and adviser to the NSW Ministry of Health, Cancer Institute, SLHD Biobanking, Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation and Smith and Nephew Global SCC Prevention Council My Lifehouse;

(d)celebrates his innovation in surgical technology, being the first surgeon in Australia to use SPY intraoperative imaging for breast reconstruction and the first in the Southern Hemisphere to perform robotic breast surgery;

(e)recognises his excellence in research and scientific recognition:

(i)winning the Patron's Prize (2013) at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for research on Hedgehog signalling;

(ii)presenting at ASCO and the San Antonio Breast Symposium, Sydney Medical Specialists; and

(iii)publishing recent studies on surgical outcomes, lymph node mapping, reconstruction cost effectiveness, and oncologic techniques in Annals of Surgical Oncology, Sydney Medical Specialists.

(e)congratulates Associate Professor Sanjay Warrier on establishing a successful, multi-site, self-managing breast practice, and enabling a patient-centred approach supported by strategic business foundations, My Lifehouse;

(f)acknowledges his unwavering commitment to compassionate patient care, mentoring of future surgeons and adoption of cutting-edge techniques to improve outcomes for women facing breast cancer; and

(g)acknowledges and commends Associate Professor Sanjay Warrier for his extraordinary service to women's health, medical science and patients.
