The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (10:04): I move:

(1)That this House congratulates Pathfinders on the successful launch of the 2025 Annual Pumpkin Run held on Monday 19 May 2025 at Tilbuster Station outside Armidale.

(2)That this House notes that the Pumpkin Run, now in its eleventh year, is a proudly regional initiative that:

(a)engages vulnerable young people from Pathfinders' programs in the growing, harvesting, and delivery of pumpkins and meals to food charities across New South Wales;

(b)builds a strong sense of belonging, purpose and pride in participants through meaningful contribution;

(c)develops practical life skills and confidence; and

(d)provides critical support to food relief services in communities facing hardship across the New England, Newcastle, and Sydney regions.

(3)That this House highlights that programs like the Pumpkin Run demonstrate the power of early intervention and diversion in youth justice, supporting young people to stay connected, engaged and on a positive path.

(4)That this House acknowledges the leadership of Pathfinders CEO, Mr Alan Brennan, and the support of Armidale Regional Council mayor, Councillor Sam Coupland, and deputy mayor, Councillor Todd Redwood, who attended the 2025 launch alongside community supporters.

(5)That this House commends all young participants for their commitment, teamwork and generosity, and affirms the vital role of initiatives like the Pumpkin Run in strengthening regional communities and changing young lives for the better.

Motion agreed to.
