The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (10:14): I move:

(1)That this House notes the outstanding achievements of Maitland athletes Finn Carlson, Sophie Miller and Scarlett Crouch, who represented New South Wales at the Australian All Schools Championships in Ballarat last weekend.

(2)That this House further notes that:

(a)Finn Carlson captained the under‑15 New South Wales All Schools Boys team to victory over Queensland, led his team with maturity well beyond his years, and was named Player of the Final, earning gold for New South Wales and selection in the Australian Merit team;

(b)Sophie Miller competed in the under‑12 girls New South Wales team, contributing strongly throughout the tournament and securing a silver medal;

(c)Scarlett Crouch, also representing New South Wales in the under‑12 girls team, delivered consistent and determined performances, likewise earning a silver medal alongside her teammates;

(d)Maitland Touch Association continues to demonstrate exceptional strength across all age groups, following recent success at the NSW Country Championships in Mudgee, where the club claimed the club champions title and earned major wins in the men's 20s and women's 40s divisions, supported by strong representative results across the region; and

(e)Maitland is home to one of the largest contingents of youth players in the Hunter, with 43 local representatives competing in Hunter Hornets teams at the National Youth Championships, and many more selected through school‑based pathways, reflecting the community's deep commitment to supporting young people.

(3)That this House acknowledges:

(a)the dedication of the athletes' families, coaches and volunteers, whose consistent encouragement and guidance help young people build confidence, discipline and resilience;

(b)the important role that accessible community sport plays in keeping young people engaged, connected and supported in positive environments; and

(c)the pride felt across Maitland and the wider Hunter region in celebrating the hard work and achievements of these young athletes.

(4)That this House congratulates Finn Carlson, Sophie Miller, Scarlett Crouch and the entire Maitland Touch Association on their excellence, teamwork and contribution to their community, and wishes them every success in their future sporting endeavours.

Motion agreed to.
