The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (12:39): I move:

(1)That this House notes that on 3 November 2025, the Hon. Aileen MacDonald visited the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary, dedicated to the care, rehabilitation and preservation of wild koalas.

(2)That this House acknowledges the outstanding work of the sanctuary, operated by Port Stephens Council in partnership with the Port Stephens Koala Hospital, in providing day‑to‑day care for sick, injured and orphaned koalas, alongside educational programs for visitors.

(3)That this House commends the general manager of Port Stephens Koala Hospital, Karen Varker, and staff, volunteers and management of the sanctuary for their commitment to supporting one of Australia's most iconic and threatened species and for integrating conservation with tourism in a way that builds community engagement and sustainable visitation.

(4)That this House calls on the Government to maintain and increase support, including funding, research partnerships and habitat protection policies, for koala conservation initiatives, such as the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary, that deliver both ecological and community benefits.
