Port Stephens Flood Recovery
The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (10:05): I seek the leave to amend private members' business item No. 2084 standing in my name on today's Notice Paper by omitting paragraph (5) and inserting instead:
(5)That this House thanks:
(a)local leaders, including Mayor Leah Anderson, and all councillors of Port Stephens Council, for their efforts in advocating for recovery support and promoting the region's readiness, and
(b)councillor Nathan Errington for hosting the Hon. Aileen MacDonald during her recent visit to the area and for introducing her to local business owners and community leaders.

The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD: Accordingly, I move:
(1)That this House notes the significant impact of recent flood events on Port Stephens and its surrounding communities, including widespread road damage and disruption to local businesses.
(2)That this House commends the determination and resilience of the Port Stephens community, including the hospitality and tourism sectors, in their efforts to recover quickly and reopen to visitors.
(3)That this House acknowledges the world-class whale and dolphin watching tours that operate out of Port Stephens, which remain a drawcard for local, interstate and international travellers.
(4)That this House recognises the many local businesses, cafes, restaurants, accommodation providers and tourism operators that have reopened and are ready to welcome guests ahead of the winter holidays.
(5)That this House thanks:
(a)local leaders, including Mayor Leah Anderson and all councillors of Port Stephens Council, for their efforts in advocating for recovery support and promoting the region's readiness, and
