The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (12:34): I move:

(1)That this House notes that:

(a)the Parliamentary Friends for Solomon Islands, co-chaired by the Hon. Aileen MacDonald, MLC, and Mr Stephen Bali, MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Public Spaces, recently hosted a luncheon in New South Wales Parliament

(b)the luncheon was attended by a delegation of senior Solomon Islands Ministers, including:

(i)the Hon. Rexon Ramofafia, Minister for National Planning and Development Coordination;

(ii)the Hon. Ricky Fuo'o, Minister for Infrastructure Development;

(iii)the Hon. Derrick Manu'ari, Minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification;

(iv)the Hon. John Tuhaika Junior, Minister of Traditional Governance, Peace and Ecclesiastical Affairs;

(v)the Hon. Daniel Suilea Waneoroa, Minister for Rural Development;

(c)the luncheon was also attended by representatives of the Australian Government, including Mr Andrew Schloeffel, Deputy High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands, and Mr Craig Gillies, Counsellor Infrastructure and Development Operations, Australian High Commission; and

(d)members of the New South Wales Parliament in attendance included:

(i)the Hon. Ben Franklin, MLC, President of the Legislative Council;

(ii)the Hon. Jacqui Munro, MLC, shadow assistant Minister for the Arts, Innovation, Digital Government and the 24-Hour Economy;

(iii)Dr Hugh McDermott, MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney General;

(iv)Mr Mark Taylor, MP, member for Winston Hills;

(v)Mr Mark Hodges, MP, shadow assistant Minister for Western Sydney, shadow assistant Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, shadow assistant Minister for Housing; and

(vi)the Hon. Emily Suvaal, MLC, Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Small Business.

(2)That this House recognises the importance of this forum in strengthening friendship, cooperation and shared learning between New South Wales and the Solomon Islands.
